In memory of Louise Greaves

Filmmaker, director, producer and curator Louise Greaves joined the ancestors Saturday, March 4, 2023. Louise Greaves was co-producer with husband William Greaves (1926-2014) on the films Ralph Bunch: An American Odyssey, Symbiopsychotaxiplasm: Take 2 1/2, Wealth of a Nation, and The Deep North. William Greaves’s unfinished 1971 cinema-vérité project, Memories of the Harlem Renaissance (Phase One), received a grant from the Ford Foundation JustFilms in 2022 to preserve and digitize the original film footage. Louise Greaves was a producer on the film.

In March 2021, Louise Greaves participated in a webinar with Ida B. Wells’s family members Michelle Duster and Alfreda Ferrell to discuss Duster’s book “Ida B. the Queen” (Simon and Schuster), and the legacy of journalist, suffragist, anti-lynching activist Ida B. Wells-Barnett. The webinar was presented by Michon Boston Group Ltd. William Greaves was the director and producer of the documentary Ida B. Wells: A Passion for Justice which premiered on the PBS history series American Experience in 1989.

Special THANK YOU to Firelight Media for producing the “in memorial” video from the webinar footage to celebrate the life and memories of Louise Archambault Greaves.
